About the Company

SyberJet Aircraft is an MSC Aerospace company and a U.S. based manufacturer of the world's fastest and longest range seven-seat light business jet the SJ30.  The SJ30 has a top speed of Mach 0.83 (486 kts/560 mph), a 2.500 nautical mile range and maintains sea level cabin pressure up to 41,000 feet (maximum flight ceiling of 49,000 feet).  SyberJet Aircraft has operations in Cedar City, Utah and in San Antonio, Texas.

Summary of Position

SyberJet is seeking an Aero Performance Engineer to join their team in San Antonio.  Primary responsibilities will include all aspects of aerodynamic performance and related flight analysis to support the development, flight testing, and certification of SyberJet SJ30 products. In addition to traditional aero performance activities, the candidate may also be required to support analysis, qualification, and certification efforts relating to propulsion and mechanical systems.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering at an ABET accredited university is required, and a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering is desired.
  • Three (3) years of aerodynamic performance and flight analysis relating to part 23/25 aircraft is desired, but candidates with strong academic backgrounds and no industry experience are still encouraged to apply.
  • General knowledge of aerodynamic design and analysis principles, processes, methods, and tools for flight vehicles, including industry standard practices; and ability to perform aerodynamic analysis tasks.
  • General knowledge and ability required to plan, conduct, coordinate, and/or develop test requirements; and general knowledge of multi-disciplinary wind tunnel, ground, flight, accident and incident, and/or product support testing of aerodynamic characteristics of flight vehicles, their components, or supporting technologies.
  • General knowledge of vehicle sizing and performance principles, tools, and processes. 
  • Generally understands how aerodynamic, propulsion, or other factors impact vehicle performance and how they can be used to optimize performance
  • Script generation / programming experience with Fortran, Visual Basic.NET, Excel + VBA
  • Experience with CFD is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Eagerness to work with others
  • Must be a self-starter

Essential Functions

  • Perform takeoff, landing, and enroute performance analysis.
  • Provide aircraft performance support to Sales and Marketing.
  • Provide flight test support, and post flight test data analysis
  • Prepare certification analysis reports, as well as certification test plans and test results reports, and provide oversight of those tests, as a test witness. Certification efforts may include areas such as, but not limited to: VMCG, VMCA, dynamic stability, vibration and buffeting, stall speed characteristics, and flutter. May also support propulsion and mechanical systems certification efforts.
  • Assess proposed regulations and changes to aircraft certification that could impact aircraft performance, and aircraft performance documents or databases.
  • Assist in resolution of questions pertaining to aircraft performance data, databases and documents.
  • Some travel may be required
