The SJ30 has a top speed of Mach 0.83 (486 kts / 560 mph), a 2,500 nautical mile range, and maintains sea level cabin pressure up to 41,000 feet (maximum flight ceiling of 49,000 feet). SyberJet Aircraft has operations in Cedar City, Utah and in San Antonio, Texas.

The Ideal candidate for this position is willing to work in San Antonio, Texas for 18-24 months and then relocate to Cedar City, Utah following the job assignment in Texas and continue there A&P position at our Utah location.

Overview Description:

The position of Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic is to build, repair, and modify major aircraft structures in the production of the SJ30 light business jet.

Essential Functions:

  • Build, install, maintain, and repair aircraft systems
  • Perform functional test of aircraft systems
  • Perform test on live aircraft including idle engine runs, high power engine runs, taxi test, etc
  • Have the responsibility to sign off repairs
  • Perform aircraft per-flight inspection and sign aircraft release for flight
  • May travel offsite to support aircraft tests or repairs.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic math skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Qualified to run engines, taxi aircraft and tug an aircraft (after obtaining company provided training)
  • Ability to operate aircraft ground support equipment
  • Able to operate aircraft systems for the purpose of troubleshooting or testing
  • Practical, hands on experience using hand held sheet metal tools including but not limited to: shears, pneumatic sanders, pneumatic drills, pneumatic rivet guns, pneumatic and hand held rivet pullers, cleco pliers, and other hand held tools.
  • Understanding of aircraft assembly processes
  • Ability to lift/handle materials up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to stand while working for long periods of time, up to 2 hours without a break.
  • Be able to work in awkward positions from time to time.
  • Basic knowledge of factory safety practices
  • Thorough understanding and ability to read blue prints
  • Thorough understanding and ability to comply with written work instructions
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft assembly processes and engineering specifications
  • Thorough knowledge of all types of aircraft assembly tools, hand held and assembly tooling
  • Some basic knowledge of system installation (hydraulic, fuel, ECS, pressurization, electrical)
  • Ability to work all areas of aircraft structure
  • Must be able to perform structure repairs and rework when directed to do so.
  • Ability to mix apply aircraft sealer to structure in both wet and dry areas
  • Ability to predict future outcomes during the assembly process and avoid mistakes/scrap
  • Good understanding of how to work with composites; composite experience is desired
  • Ability to lead and mentor less experienced coworkers

Education and Training:

  • Previous experience of aircraft assembly preferred
  • 2-5 years' experience in a flight line or R & D environment
  • Possess FAA Airframe and Power Plant license is desired but not required.
  • Good working knowledge of avionics systems
  • Read and understand engineering drawings, test procedures, specifications, wire diagrams, and system schematics
  • Operate aircraft ground support equipment (hydraulic power cart, GPU, tugs, pressurization cart, etc.)


  • May require exposure to hot and cold working conditions outside or within an aircraft hanger.
  • May be exposed to moderate to extreme noise conditions.
